Sedona Shawl ~ new crochet design…

sedona shawl front viewIntroducing Sedona Shawl ~ my new crochet design featured in the I Like Crochet, February 2017 issue!

When I read the submission call for this issue of I Like Crochet, the Succulent Hues theme caught my eye. Sitting in my stash was the perfect yarn in the perfect color for a shawl. Having worked with Prime Publishing (the parent company for I Like Crochet & I Like Knitting) on my Flutter Lace Tee (re-released as McKenna), I knew the company was one I wanted to work with again. So I started playing with stitch patterns and shawl shapes.

This shawl had to be not only pretty, but easy enough for fairly new crocheters to make. For me, that meant using basic stitches in interesting combinations. Single and double crochet work beautifully together to create the lace pattern. Sedona Shawl also has a unique shape ~ a basic rectangle that becomes a crescent. This shape is easily achieved by placing increases in the plain rows of the pattern.

My perfect yarn for this shawl is Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine, in color #1294 Turquoise Mix. Working with this yarn is a total pleasure, and it comes in a multitude of colors. This yarn is also pretty reasonably priced so you can crochet Sedona Shawl for under $40.

Sedona Shawl has quickly become one of my favorites of all my designs!
