New design in knit.wear Fall 2012…

New design in knit.wear Fall 2012…

I had intended to write about a different subject today….but I just have to share this instead.

Interweave has released the Fall 2012 issue of knit.wear, and not only do I have a design in this issue ~ it’s #2 on the Top 20 list on Ravelry! Wow…both are firsts for me.

The design is Turned Cable Cardigan ~ a simply structured cardigan trimmed with a big, soft cable. While it looks like the construction is ‘normal’, there are some unique features to it. The major pieces (back & fronts) are knit top down. This allows for holding the cable border sts on the left front and then attaching the border as it is knit ~ in one complete piece ~ around the entire edge.

The sleeves are picked up and knit down from the shoulder, with the cuff worked perpendicular to the sleeve. And since TCC is knit using a bulky yarn ~ Classic Elite Yarns Ariosa ~ it knits up fairly quickly and is oh so comfortable. Ariosa is a lofty yarn which makes it really light weight even though it’s a bulky yarn. And it’s a dream to knit with too.

Wearing Turned Cable Cardigan is like being wrapped by a cloud – soft, cozy and comfortable. It’s perfect for wearing anywhere, especially about the house during those cold winter days. It’s on my ‘to knit’ list for this winter. Will it be on your ‘to knit’ list too?

Happy Knitting! ~ Jean
