Knit In Public…….

Knit In Public…….

World Wide Knit in Public DayThe second Saturday of June each year is the day we celebrate World Wide Knit in Public Day ~ which was begun back in 2005 by Danielle Landes. This year knitters everywhere will be celebrating for the entire week of June 8th through June 16th!

In the beginning, KIP day was a day for knitters to get together and enjoy each others company while working on projects. Today, it’s the largest knitter run event in the world. Knitters in towns & cities around the world come together to share their knitting and enjoy a variety of festivities.

Craftsy – a worldwide crafting site, has a list of communities hosting a Knit In Public get together. You can find an event near you on this page: Craftsy ~ Find A Knit In Public Week Meetup. If you have an iPhone/iPad you can download their Knitting & Crochet Pattern app so you can easily take your pattern with you.

So how will you be celebrating Knit in Public Week?   For me ~ it will all start with a trip to the Estes Park Wool Festival. It’s one of the few fiber festivals close enough for me to easily attend. And I have a great time every visit. Then during the week I plan to join a local craft group I’ve been invited to. And of course there will be lots of knitting. 🙂

I’d love to hear what you are planning for World Wide Knit in Public Week!

Happy Knitting ~ Jean
