08 Dec I’ve been at it again………
Updated and revising my web site again that is. I always thought I’d be one to kept my site pretty static but you know – there are always improvement to make. This update was a pretty substantial one that took all day to complete. And that is with already having sketched out how I wanted the site to look. Something friendly & inviting while also looking very professional, no easy task. Please visit and let me know what you think – Desert Rose Designs. This link is to the home page so be sure to check out all the links while you’re there.
On the knitting front – one shawl is ready for blocking and the second one started. The second one is about 9″ now without stretching. I love how quickly these are going and the stitch patterns are coming together. I’ll try to have pictures for you next post.
In the meantime – it’s way past bedtime and I’ll bushed. See you all later…………..
Cheers! Jean

Posted at 19:38h, 27 DecemberHello!
I like your website – it’s actually pretty professional-looking! Your “Patterns” page is easy to navigate and the pictures show both the finished object and the yarn that’s included in the kit.
I have one suggestion: The images that say “PDF Pattern” and “Choose kit or hardcopy pattern” change colors when you hover over it. To me, I originally thought that those were the buttons to click on. Maybe they shouldn’t change colors? It’s a small thing, and it’s obviously your site, but that’s my suggestion.
Also when I clicked on pictures of the yarn in the kit, it went to an error page.
Nice job and cool patterns – they look quite easy to work and customize, and I need a good pattern for my first sweater 🙂

P.S. Good story about the Qiviuk yarn… I had no idea what it was when I first read it, but I looked it up, and it looks extraordinarily luxurious (I saw a 1 oz, 100% qiviuk ball for $96!). I’m glad you were able to save it 🙂

Posted at 06:43h, 28 DecemberThank you for the compliment on my site 🙂 And for letting me know the link for a larger pic of the Kathmandu yarn was broken – it’s fixed. The other images I can’t change since they are predefined in the software I’m using for my site. That doesn’t mean I won’t continue to “play” with the site graphics though. Maybe I’ll find a way around the predefined setting.
I’m glad you like my patterns & looking forward to having you as a customer 🙂 Sunset Skies is perfect for a knitter’s first sweater.
Saving the Qiviuk was a stroke of luck – it could have been totally destroyed. Now I just have to decide on a stitch pattern for it. With so many choices that may be harder than saving the yarn was – lol.
